San Diego Beer Week Nov 4 – 13.

 San Diego Beer Week

Restaurant Week is nice, but those of us who prefer to drink our dinner save those oh-so precious calories for the annual return of San Diego Beer WeekSeven days? Think again. This glorious holiday grants us ten blurry days and nights of non-stop craft brew tasting, paired with a small side of gourmet grub. With boring summer diets long gone, our fall focus is drinking our way through a packed lineup ofevents during San Diego Beer Week, running November 4 – 13.

Bring out the fat pants, beg your buddy for a ride, and save up those extra pennies for just-in-case cab fare, it’s going to be a rowdy and somewhat sloppy week in celebration of San Diego’s unique craft flavor. Rather than one huge keg party in the center of town, Beer Week offers 179+ events at restaurants and bars all over town, including the official kickoff and finale brew bashes.  You can get your Beer Week on at Sessions PublicUrge GastropubHamilton’s TavernNeighborhood, Eclipse Chocolat, Newport Pizza & Ale Houseand many more craft beer bars around town. And now for the spirit of the hour; Beer Week will feature San Diego’s premier craft breweries, including Stone Brewing Co., Karl Strauss Brewing Co., Coronado Brewing Co., Aztec Brewing Co., Iron Fist Brewing Co., Mother Earth Brewing Co., Lost Abbey, Ballast Point, AleSmith, Green Flash, Mission Brewery and more.

Friday, November 4th through Sunday, November 13th, you are invited to taste the best of San Diego craft beer at a variety of events taking place all day and night. Just a few can’t-miss events include the Jolly Pumpkin Pairing Dinner at Sea Rocket Bistro on Saturday; Beer & Chocolate: Double Truffles at Stone Brewing Co. on Sunday; Silva Stout Release Party & Rare Beer Tasting at Green Flash Brewing Co. on Tuesday; New Belgium Barrel Night at Churchill’s Pub on Thursday; and Mission Brewery Beer Maker Dinner at Mistal at Loews Coronado on Saturday.

And now for Beer Week’s anchor events. There is no better way to start off Beer Week than with a massive craft beer festival featuring all of our city’s top breweries. The San Diego Brewers Guild Festival kicks off Beer Week on Saturday, November 5th with an all-day beer-fueled outdoor event taking place at Ingram Park within Liberty Stationin Point Loma. With turning fall leaves as a backdrop, guests will sample local beers in a commemorative taster glass, nosh on paired cuisine, meet local brewers and enjoy live music handpicked by FM 94/9. All 32 members of the San Diego Brewer’s Guild will be in attendance, including Pizza Port, Stone Brewing Co., Oggi’s, Karl Strauss Brewing Co., Ballast Point Brewing Co., Pacific Beach Ale House, Mission Brewery and more. The FM 94/9 Anniversary Stage will spotlight Matthew Sweet, Telekinesis and Stone Foxes; while The Bloody Hollies, Dead Feather Moon and Family Wagon will rock the Local Stage. The San Diego Brewers Guild Festival runs from 11am to 1pm. Tickets are $35 for general admission, or $55 for a VIP upgrade.

Sadly, all good things must come to an end, including Beer Week. The Beer Garden & Chef Celebration is the grand finale event, and quite arguably the best of them all, taking place on Sunday, November 13th from noon to 3pm atThe Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla. Gourmet grub and craft brew – does it get any better than that? This event pairs local chefs with local breweries to create a one-of-a-kind tasting experience. And no, you don’t have to choose your favorites. Your ticket gets you unlimited access to all the beer and food. A few example selections include Boursin Cheese Ravioli from Jeffrey Strauss of Pamplemousse, paired with Black Magic Stout from Oggi’s Pizza and Brewing Co.; and Wild Boar-Chipotle Sausage from Paul McCabe of Kitchen 1540, paired with Hop Head Red from Green Flash Brewing Company. And that is just the beginning; the event will also feature tastes from Cal-A-Vie Spa, Stone World Bistro, The Shores, Harney Sushi, and The Lodge at Torrey Pines. Tickets are $65 per person.
