Medical reasons prompt both European singers to shelve concerts

Adele won’t be performing her sold-out show Wednesday atHumphrey’s Concerts by the Bayafter all. The chart-topping 23-year-oldPhoto detail singer was forced to call off all remaining 9 concerts on her sold-out North American tour because of laryngitis. The move comes following the cancellation of 5 previous Adele shows for the same reason

“Medical reasons” are being cited for Li’s canceled shows. When asked to elaborate, Li’s New York publicist said a “throat infection” was to blame.

The sold-out Independence Jam will continue Sunday as planned, with a lineup that includesCold War Kids, Peter, Bjorn and John, San Diego’s The Silent Comedy and more.

Li has not made any formal statement as yet regarding her two canceled shows, beyond issuing an apology through her publicist.

However, Adele Friday posted a statement on her web site: “I’m really frustrated. I was hoping with a weeks rest I’d be better to sing again straight away. However there is absolutely nothing I can do but take the doctors advice and rest some more. I’m so sorry. See you soon, love Adele.”
